On Monday morning, the storm system extends from Mississippi north to west of New York with heavy rain in the south and snow in the northern areas. Later in the day the snow can be intermittent from Pennsylvania to New York and to New England with heavy rain from Virginia to New Jersey.
On-site, more than half a foot of snow is possible from central Pennsylvania to central New York.
Once this storm system takes hold, it is expected to be spring-like from the Rockies to the east coast, with the central and southern states entering the spring weather first.
