As one of the largest retailers in the US with nearly 1,200 stores and a particularly dedicated following in the Midwest, Kohl's has established itself as the go-to place for everything from apparel to housewares.
Since its inception in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, more than 50 years ago, Kohl's has carved a niche for itself among traditional department store peers like JCPenney and Macy's thanks to its one-stop-shop model and proximity to suburbs. The company continues to grow its loyal fan base by experimenting with the now popular loyalty and rewards programs, and partnering with key partners like Amazon to help customers make more seamless online returns.
With such a large inventory of items in different categories, however, it can be difficult to pinpoint the best deals at Kohl's. With that in mind, and with the help of a variety of expert reviews and blogs, here are 18 products to buy from Kohl's and 10 products to skip.
Buy: Small kitchen appliances

Whether you are looking for a coffee grinder, a powerful blender, or a waffle iron, Kohl's has it all for you. The dealer has a comprehensive range of high-quality devices that can be tested on your kitchen counter.
According to the shopping blog 5 Best Things, consumers will also find an even wider selection of kitchen products on the Kohl website.
Buy: sportswear

Kohl's offers an impressive selection of sporting goods and sportswear from brand manufacturers for less money such as Adidas, Nike and Fila Sport. According to The Penny Hoarder, fitness choices are worth at least a quick look before you hit the register.
"If all else fails, you probably need sweatpants or a workout tank top," wrote Lyndsee Simpson of The Penny Hoarder.

In addition to sportswear, Kohl's has also grown into a fashion destination that includes exclusive collections from designers ranging from legends like Vera Wang to celebrities like Lauren Conrad and Jennifer Lopez.

Kohl's recommends 5 Best Things for men's accessories such as ties and socks. "If you want to give your husband or partner stylish yet affordable accessories or if you are a man who wants to buy trendy things, Kohl's is the place," wrote 5 Best Things.
Skip: Furniture

While Kohl's has a limited selection of furniture, Rutherford Source - a local community blog in Tennessee - recommends looking for cheaper options like Target, Ikea, or Walmart to avoid breaking the bank.
"Retail prices for Kohl's furniture offerings are typically too high for coupons to cut costs significantly for the consumer," wrote Donna Vissman of Rutherford Source. "In addition, the shipping costs for oversized items are exorbitant, which adds to the price."
Skip: shoes
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
Kohl's has tons of brand name shoes for the whole family, but experts say they tend to be cheaper, lower-quality models and suggest going to Nordstrom Rack or another discount store instead.
"While Kohl's occasionally offers reasonable retail prices for lower-priced Nike sneakers, these cheaper models are typically of poorer quality than models available in a specialized shoe store," wrote Donna Vissman of Rutherford Source.
Buy: home decor
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
Much like competitors like Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods, Kohl's offers tons of home decor and wall art at bargain prices for every room in the house.
Buy: detergents and equipment
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
Buyers looking to keep their home neat and tidy can find several options with cleaning supplies and equipment like vacuum cleaners at discounted prices.
Buy: outdoor decor and activities
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
Not only does Kohl's serve as a focal point for interior design, it also offers a wide range of items to decorate an outdoor area - from fire pits and fairy lights to inflatable pools and slide and slide activities for children.
Buy: bed linen

According to shopping blog 5 Best Things, Kohl's is a great choice for pretty much anything in the home category, but you will likely find great bargains on items like sheets and comforters.
Buy: pillows

While you're at it, experts say you should toss a few pillows in your shopping cart as well. Elternblog Mommyish recommends Kohl's for its high quality, affordable pillow options from well-known brands like Serta, Sealy and The Big One.
Skip: toys
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
Kohl's may have a wide range of branded toys and games, but don't expect bargain prices. According to Rutherford Source, these products are often overpriced and buyers are better off looking elsewhere.
"Unfortunately, Kohl's is one of the worst retailers to find significant discounts on toys," wrote Donna Vissman of Rutherford Source. "Retail toy prices are high, so coupons don't have much of an impact. Contact Target and Walmart for better in-store deals and Amazon for online deals."
Skip: baby and toddler clothing
Business Insider / Jessica Tyler
Just like toys, Kohl's selection of clothes for babies and toddlers may be impressive, but be careful - they are often expensive. Rutherford Source recommends going straight to the websites of popular brands like Carter's instead of buying from Kohl's, where you can likely find markups.
Buy: handbags
Business Insider / Jessica Tyler
From bags for the office to clutches for an evening, Kohl's offers a wide range of purses and bags for almost every occasion.
"As long as you're not a brand snob, Kohl's offers great prices for high-quality wallets and gloves (often made of real leather)," wrote Kristin Cook of the shopping blog The Checkout.
Buy: towels
Business Insider / Jessica Tyler
According to the shopping blog The Krazy Koupon Lady, shoppers can usually find bargains and deals on towels of all kinds, from kitchen to tea towels.
Skip: Big electronics
Business Insider / Jessica Tyler
According to Ben's Bargains shopping blog, big electronics is better left to stores that specialize in such products or online retailers like Amazon.
"Unfortunately, the quality of the off-brand TV models is poor and Kohl's doesn't often allow coupons for other small electronics," wrote Kristin Cook of Ben's Bargains. "Prices are usually better at any number of electronic retailers like Best Buy and Amazon."
Skip: makeup

Given the limited and overpriced makeup choices at Kohl's, Mommyish says it would be better for buyers to go elsewhere for their cosmetic needs.
"Kohl just isn't the place to get eyeshadow and contour plates. Why? They're too expensive and don't have the color palette other places offer," wrote Mommyish's Mandy Namchampassack. "Ulta and other specialty stores have similar makeup brands for less and with more variety."
Buy: nail polish and manicure accessories

While Kohl's is best to avoid makeup, Mommyish has an impressive range of nail polishes and accessories for manicures and pedicures at home, according to Mommyish.
Skip: Wrapping paper and gift bags
Certainly Kohl's can be a one-stop shop when looking for a gift, but Rutherford Source suggests buying elsewhere for items such as gift wrap and bags, which are often labeled.
"You are paying a premium for these items simply for convenience," said Donna Vissman of Rutherford Source. "As long as you have the time, head to a dollar store for significantly better prices."
Skip: greeting cards

Experts also say to skip the greeting cards, which are usually more expensive than Kohl's competitors.
Buy: robes
Whether you are looking for a bathrobe to relax in the house or to equip a bridal shower, Kohl's has a wide range to suit your needs.
"Whether you like silky shorts or long, plush robes, they have you covered," wrote Mommyish's Mandy Nachampassack. "Prices also vary widely, which means there is something for every budget."
Buy: Seasonal furniture
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
Regardless of the holidays, Kohl's needs to have the seasonal decor you need - and tons of discounts afterward. So it's worth checking out the discount sales after your vacation.
Buy: underwear and lingerie
Crystal Cox / Business Insider
If you're looking for high-quality ski vies for men and women, Kohl's has tons available, according to Mommyish, whether you're looking for useful bras and underwear or sexy lingerie.
Skip: Auto Tools and Accessories
When it comes to auto accessories, consumers should better go to a reputable auto service store, hardware store, or technology provider. According to Mommyish, Kohl's selection of auto accessories are often poor quality and tend to break easily.
Buy: storage containers
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
From food storage bins to boxes for stowing jewelry and housewares, Kohl's has everything you need for your organization - at a low cost.
Buy: Cheap jewelry
Business Insider / Jessica Tyler
While Kohl's may not be the right destination for a diamond engagement ring, it does offer a variety of stylish, yet affordable jewelry options at a variety of prices.
According to The Penny Hoarder, shoppers can find great deals on exclusive collections from designers like Vera Wang and Lauren Conrad, as well as a wide variety of items for less than $ 10.
Skip: carpets
Shoshy Ciment / Business Insider
According to Mommyish, Kohl's carpet selection is "rather limited and expensive".
"When there are places like Wayfair, with almost limitless options and sizes, buying a rug from Kohl just doesn't make sense," wrote Mommyish's Mandy Namchampassack.
Buy: care accessories
For young and expectant mothers, Kohl's has tons of nursing accessories, according to Mommyish, including "everything from pumps, pump spares, nursing blankets, and nursing positioners."
"If you want to pump on the road, they even covered it up with 9-volt vehicle adapters," wrote Mommyish's Mandy Nachampassack.
