Likewise, vitamin E is known for its moisturizing properties, but when taken in tablet form during the winter months it can have a drying effect on the skin.”

"If you're looking to improve your skin's health in winter, it's best to focus on supplements like vitamin C, which is known for its ability to protect against free radical damage," said Dr. methil. Another good addition? Zinc. "Zinc is important to ensure we retain moisture in the skin," said Dr. methil. “Both reduce inflammation and provide antioxidant protection. The vitamin B complex can also help improve collagen production and keep skin looking more youthful, and is safe to take even in colder weather.”
Additionally, you can look for topical products that contain ceramides, which promote skin hydration by creating a protective barrier on the skin's surface, adds Dr. add methyl.
