Chevrolet is back home in Indiana. This year's Indy 500 pace car was unveiled on Tuesday, and it's no surprise that, like last year, it's a Chevy Corvette Stingray. But this time it's the hardtop convertible that's painted in arctic white and gold.
The interior Sky Cool Gray and Strike Yellow contribute to the sporty look. The exterior is finished off with racing logos, an exclusive stripe package, and other unique decals. Pace car lights have been incorporated into the car's tarpaulin nacelles, and the headlights, bonnets and taillights are equipped with flashing lights.
It is the first convertible to accelerate the race since 2008. No manufacturer has achieved the pace car role more than Chevy (32 times) and no model more than Corvette (18).
The 105th run of the Indianapolis 500 takes place on May 30th on NBC.
