2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is the hottest Mustang this side of a Shelby

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is here and ends a 17-year hiatus for the Special Edition sports car. And while he lacks the last car's shaker hood shovel, he makes up for it by filling in tons of power parts, including many from the Shelby line.
The 5.0 liter V8 of the Mustang GT is hidden under the hood, but has been upgraded with a newly calibrated engine computer and a GT350 intake manifold. The result is that 480 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, just like the discontinued Bullitt Mustang. On the engine, you can choose between a six-speed manual transmission and a 10-speed automatic. The manual is the same gearbox as in a Shelby GT350. It also offers speed adjustment for downshifts. The automatic is the 10-speed that you will find in other Mustang GTs, but with an improved torque converter and a newly adjusted shifting point.
Ford has also given the Mach 1 plenty of cooling capacity to ensure that you can drive it hard on the track. The engine receives the GT350 oil cooler, which also increases the oil capacity by 50%. The manual transmission gets its own oil cooler from the GT350, the automatic two. Even the rear differential gets an oil cooler that comes from the Shelby GT500.
The chassis and aerodynamics are also improved. The magnetic suspension is part of the standard equipment, together with stiffer stabilizers and front springs, stiffer rear subframe sockets, the Mustang Performance Package 2 brake booster and a GT500 rear toe link. The car's belly pan is slightly longer than a normal Mustang GT to increase the airflow under the car. It also includes a large wing section and wings in the brake cooling channels for additional downforce. The rear diffuser comes directly from the GT500. The handling package, which is only available with the manual transmission, contains a large front spoiler, additional gaiters on the wheel arches and a Gurney flap on the rear spoiler.
Of course, a Mach 1 is not complete without some visual improvements. It has a unique front panel with empty fog lamp openings that are reminiscent of earlier performance Mustangs. The standard wheels are 19-inch units that look like vintage Mach 1 wheels. The handling package is given another set that is one centimeter wider and ranges from 9.5 inches to 10.5 inches at the front and from 10 to 11 inches at the rear. The trim parts are painted dark gray and the bonnet and sides of the car are finished with satin black stripes. They have red or white reflective accents or orange in the appearance package, which means that an exclusive dark gray color is also available. The inside gets a unique aluminum finish, a white cueball shifter and a badge.
The Mach 1 will go on sale next spring. Prices are not yet available. While it is available with either a manual or an automatic transmission, it is only available as a coupe. We expect the price to be slightly above the Bullitt, which started at around $ 48,000, but is certainly not as expensive as the Shelby GT350 at around $ 61,000.
