GM Authority has revealed that the ordering guides for the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2022 Suburban are now available. There are several notable updates to the market for the second year of this generation (standard lane departure warning plus newly available automatic reverse braking and an improved 12-inch digital display). The big news is that the 6.2-liter V8 will be available in the market with more trim. It's expanding to the Z71, RST, and Premier after being just an option for the top-of-the-line High Country for 2021. The 5.3-liter V8 remains standard, while the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel remains optional.
There is of course something small print. In order to get the 6.2 on the Z71, the new off-road performance package has to be ordered. This only consists of the 6.2 liter V8 and quad pipes with stainless steel tips, but it's not that simple. Ordering the Off-Road Performance Pack also requires ordering the Off-Road Capability Pack, which adds Magnetic Ride Control, adaptive air suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential. And we're not done yet, because ordering the Offroad Capability Package also means ordering the Max Trailering and Luxury Package. Or buyers can skip the optional daisy chain by ordering the already available Z71 Offroad Package, which is a bundle of packages; These are the Luxury, Max Trailering and Offroad Capability packages plus additional seating functions in all rows and exterior mirrors painted in the vehicle color with heating on both sides and automatic dimming on the driver's side.
Getting the bigger V8 on the RST is at least a little easier. It means ordering the new Sport Performance Package, which combines the 6.2-liter V8 with Magnetic Ride Control and the Quadpipes with stainless steel tips.
Only the Premier equipment makes the 6.2-liter V8 a standalone option. This fairing already comes with Magnetic Ride Control and the shiny exhaust.
We don't have any prices yet. We expect that to come when GM officially announces the 2022 models.
