2023 Subaru Solterra EV will debut at LA Auto Show next week
Our wait for Subaru's first EV is almost over. The 2023 Subaru Solterra is now set to officially debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this month. Those eager to see the information as it arrives should tune in on November 17th at 1:45 pm. ET to see Subaru reveal the crossover via a livestream show.
Today's news is accompanied by a single thumbnail showing Solterra trekking through a muddy road. We see the wheel, a huge black fender cover, part of the headlight and the "EV" emblem on the fender. Just like the thumbnails we saw earlier (below), the similarity to the Toyota bZ4X is evident.

The LA Auto Show is also developing into a show with a number of electric car debuts. We know the Kia Concept EV9 will be unveiled at the show and the final production Fisker Ocean is also coming. Add the Solterra to the list and we'll have a fair amount of time.
As for the expected Solterra specs, we can take a look at the official bZ4X specs. The Toyota version is available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, but we already know that the Subaru will come with all-wheel drive only. Toyota's car only has 214 horsepower on all-wheel drive, so don't expect this to be a super-fast electric vehicle. Range is 285 miles for the AWD bZ4X, and Toyota estimates that charging on a 150 kW charger should get you from 0-80% in about 30 minutes.
Take all of the above key specs with caution, however, as Subaru could tinker something on their own to produce other numbers. We'll find out soon enough as the official unveiling will take place next week.
