49ers TE George Kittle happy he could help Bears in playoff push
The Chicago Bears are officially in control of their playoff fate thanks to the help of the San Francisco 49ers who lost the Arizona Cardinals 20:12 on Saturday.
There have been several playoff scenarios in which the Bears managed to lock that seventh seed in the NFC playoffs, most of which involved the Cardinals, who slipped in the past few weeks.
With Arizona losing on Saturday, Chicago has the opportunity to take control of that seventh place with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Someone delighted that the bears' playoff hopes remained afloat was George Kittle, who grew up a bear fan in Chicago.
"I grew up a bear fan and the fact that we helped the bears a little just makes me a little happier."
Kittle also added a "Da Bears" before unwinding the question.
After the Cardinals fell to 8-7, the Bears' playoff odds rose to 71%, according to FiveThirtyEight. That odds rise to 84% if Chicago beats Jacksonville on Sunday.
But Chicago has business to deal with for the past two weeks, facing the Jaguars and the Green Bay Packers.
There's still a scenario where the Bears can secure a place in the playoffs with just one win in their last two games. The Cardinals would lose their game in week 17 against division rivals the Los Angeles Rams, another team fighting for the playoffs.
