AJ Brown wasn't at his best on Sunday.
The Philadelphia Eagles receiver fumbled in the second quarter to set up a game-winning Green Bay Packers touchdown. On his next goal, he dropped a second pass from Jalen Hurts in the final minutes before halftime.
It also turned out he wasn't doing well after a subpar Thanksgiving.
Brown told reporters after the game that he had contracted a gastrointestinal virus over the holiday. He said it caused him to lose seven pounds in a single day and ruptured a blood vessel in his eye when he vomited. whoops
"It was scary for me when I saw it," Brown said of the ruptured blood vessel, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Nobody hit me, so it was scary for me."
The ruptured blood vessel was seen with media in pre-game photos and during his post-game dressing room access.
The illness caused Brown to miss practice time last week. But he was erased in time for Sunday's game against Green Bay. And it wasn't all bad for the Eagles freshman Sunday.
Brown caught a third-down pass after his second drop to keep a pre-half touchdown drive alive. After the break, he caught a touchdown pass himself to extend Philadelphia's lead to 34-20 in the Eagles' 40-33 win. He finished the game with four catches for 46 yards and the score.
After a stellar three-year stint with the Tennessee Titans early in his career that included a Pro Bowl, Brown is on track for a career season while catching passes from Jalen Hurts on a 10-1 Eagles team. In 11 games, Brown had 53 catches for 831 yards and seven touchdowns.
He should be highly motivated for week 13. Next up is a date with the Titans in Philadelphia, his first matchup with the team that traded him offseason. We suspect Brown will want to get back to his peak physical form in time for Sunday.
