Aaron Rodgers shows up for training camp
It's only a matter of time before he tells reporters, possibly with a wry smile, "What's the big deal?"
The big thing is this. After months of carefully and strategically manipulating the news (without saying a word), quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed up with the Packers for training camp. This is important because once a player shows up, it becomes a lot harder to walk away. (Though if anyone could find a way to do it, it's Rodgers.)
I guess Rodgers is all in. We'll see if that's the case when he inevitably speaks to reporters. Every word, every facial expression, every attitude in behavior is questioned.
How can they not be? I'll break it down in more detail in a later post, but it's hard to characterize this as a win for Rodgers. He gave in. He's buckled up. He was crying uncle. And unlike Russell Wilson, who is wired to put his concerns aside and say "Go 'Hawks!" Rodgers, as always, can't turn it off. That means it will be important to tune in to every opportunity when Rodgers speaks in 2021.
