Abigail Breslin Feels Pigeonholed by Little Miss Sunshine Role: 'People Forget' I'm 'Not 9 Anymore'
Abigail Breslin says she doesn't want to "disrespect" the childhood role of little Miss Sunshine, but rather "try new things"

Abigail Breslin knows that some people still see her as her iconic character in the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine.
When promoting her new drama Stillwater, in which she starred alongside Matt Damon as an American student in France accused of murdering her ex-girlfriend, the 25-year-old actress told British iNews that she was getting age-appropriate auditions Rolls can be tough.
"Sometimes people forget that I'm 25 years old and not nine," Breslin told the point of sale. "People tend to pigeonhole you."
Breslin received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Little Miss Sunshine as Olive, a dreamy girl whose quirky family takes a county road trip to compete in a beauty pageant.

"I would never want to distance myself from it," added Breslin of her star role. "It opened so many doors for me and opened up so many possibilities and is the reason why I am where I am today."
"I don't want to disregard it," she continued. "In a way, it's cute because I think people felt so emotionally attached to this role and this movie. They want me to be Olive. I get that. I'll always have a little Olive in me, but I want to try. " new things."
Breslin also had memorable roles as a kid in films such as Signs (aged 5), No Reservations, Nim's Island, and Kitt Kittredge: An America Girl. She starred in Zombieland and its sequel, My Sister's Keeper, as well as August: Osage County and TV's Scream Queens.
Referring to Little Miss Sunshine 15 years later, Breslin recently told Yahoo! Entertainment: "It was an amazing movie to be a part of and I don't think anyone expected it to be as successful as it was. It was obviously a movie that gave me a lot of opportunities and opened a lot of doors . " It's crazy for me to think it's been 15 years, but I have great memories of the whole experience. "
Stillwater is now playing in theaters.
