Jean Trebek, the wife of the late Jeopardy host Alex Trebek, celebrated her first Christmas since his death by sharing some wisdom.
"Time is too precious to be spent on anything other than kindness," she wrote on Instagram under a photo of the couple's two children, Emily and Matthew. "Many blessings of beauty and joy to you and all that you love!"
The 80-year-old television presenter died on November 8 after battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer on the 37th season of the popular game show. "[I] lived a full life and I am nearing the end of that life ... if it happens why should I fear that?" Alex told CTV in October. "One thing they won't say as part of a laudatory speech at my funeral is," He was taken from us too soon. "
After his death, there was a ton of love from fans, celebrities, and coworkers, including Wheel of Fortune co-hosts Pat Sajak, Vanna White, and Ryan Reynolds. Days after her husband's death, Jean thanked the public for their "compassionate messages and generosity" on Instagram and shared a photo from their 1990 wedding.
A copy of Alex's death certificate received by The Blast revealed that he was cremated and his ashes were kept in the Studio City, California, apartment he shared with his wife.
In July, Alex said his wife was instrumental in keeping their family together. "She kept me alive. If it wasn't for Jean, I would have stopped myself a long time ago," he told People.
The couple were introduced by a mutual friend in 1988 shortly after Alex divorced his wife, Elaine Callei, though the then 47-year-old Alex was reluctant to date someone 24 years younger. "It worried me at first," he told the outlet the year he married Jean. "But then I thought," The hell with that. We'll make it work. "
Months before his death, Jean, who practices sonic and energy healing, raised awareness of pancreatic cancer by sharing Alex's early symptoms in a guide essay and calling her husband "a gift" each day.
