America's First Nuclear Fusion Reactor Could Go Online in 2025
Now it sounds like MIT might beat them. Across the country from the legendary Skunk Works working on LockMart's version of the reactor, scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Plasma Science and Fusion Center are working on their own compact fusion reactor, reports The New York Mal. Within the next three to four years, MIT hopes, in cooperation with a company spun off from MIT in 2017, which commercialized the idea of "Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC", to have a "SPARC" test reactor built to prove its concept.
