Angelina Jolie has no regrets about divorcing her ex-husband Brad Pitt. But four years later, she said that her six children still adapt and heal after the breakup.
In an interview published this week in Vogue India, the actress and director discussed her humanitarian work, motherhood and previous marriage. When asked how she maintained a "healthy environment" for her children after the divorce, Jolie said it was an ongoing process.
"I broke up to help my family," Jolie told Vogue. "It was the right decision. I continue to focus on healing her."
At the same time as the divorce is still being pulled out in the media, the "Maleficent" star said that her children are tormented by the way the separation is painted in the press.

"Some have taken advantage of my silence and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and mind," said Jolie in the interview. "In fact, there are six very brave, very strong young people."
Jolie and Pitt met in 2004 when they made the spy thriller "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston at that time. The following year, Pitt filed for divorce from the "Friends" star and he and Jolie started to build their family together.
Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children and three biological children.
The couple married in France in 2014 and Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 and applied for custody of the children.
In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2017, Jolie spoke about how the relationship had deteriorated.
In the Vogue interview, Jolie also emphasized how important it is for her adoptive children to maintain a connection with their countries of origin with increasing age.
Maddox was adopted from Cambodia and Pax from Vietnam. Zahara was adopted from Ethiopia.
"All adopted children have a wonderful secret of a world that they come across," Jolie told Vogue. "If you come from a different race and a foreign country, this secret, this gift is so full. You must never lose contact with them from where they come from. You have roots that you do not have. Honor them. Learn from them. It's the most amazing journey you can share. You don't enter your world, you enter each other's worlds. "
