Angelina Jolie Says She Separated from Brad Pitt for the ‘Well Being’ of Her Children
Angelina Jolie is pretty much an open book when it comes to charities that support her around the world, but when it comes to discussing about her six children: Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara, Vivienne and Knox. This has been especially true since her very public separation from Brad Pitt in 2016.
In a new interview with Vogue India, however, Jolie revealed a little more about why she divorced Pitt. "I broke up for the good of my family," she told the magazine. "It was the right decision."
"I continue to focus on her healing," Jolie continued. "Some took advantage of my silence and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and mind. In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people."
"Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil" European premiere - arrival on the red carpet
Angelina Jolie and her children Vivienne, Zahara, Shiloh and Knox will attend the European premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in 2019.
In 2017, Angelina Jolie described her separation from Pitt for BBC World News as "a very difficult time". "We are a family and we will always be a family and we will survive this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it," she said.
"My whole family went through a difficult time," added Jolie at the time. "My focus is on my children - our children - and my focus is on finding this way. We are and will be a family forever, and that's how I manage. I manage to find a way to ensure this somehow makes us stronger and closer. It's been a couple of difficult months. "
In the new Vogue interview, Jolie shared how she talks to her kids about the different ways they joined their family, either organically or through adoption. “Everyone is a nice way to become a family. It is important to speak openly about everything and to share, ”she said. "Adoption" and "orphanage" are positive words in our house. I cannot speak of pregnancy to my adoptive children, but I speak with great detail and love about the journey to find it and what it was like to look into their eyes for the first time. "
“All adopted children have a wonderful secret of a world that they encounter. If they come from another race and a foreign country, this secret, this gift is so full. For them, they must never lose contact where they came from, "she continued." You have roots that you don't have. Honor her. Learn from them. It is the most amazing journey to share. You are not entering your world, you are entering each other's worlds. "
