According to local news outlets, a woman and her husband were driving to their place of work in Pennsylvania when they got into an argument.
The man said she was "not being honest with him," then shot her in the leg, according to a criminal complaint received by the WTAE.
He told his wife to continue on Interstate 579, police said, but she stopped her vehicle and got out, KDKA reported.
The woman was found off the I-579 exit with a gunshot wound to the leg, WPXI reported.
Pittsburgh police were called to the area just before 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 28, according to a press release. Authorities initially reported that the woman had been thrown from her vehicle.
She was taken to a hospital "in serious but stable condition," police said, and the ramp was closed as detectives investigated the shooting.
An arrest warrant has been issued for her husband, according to the WTAE, on charges of aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license and recklessly endangering another person.
An investigation is underway.
