'Announcements coming' from RV in Nashville before it exploded in apparent 'intentional act': Police

A parked recreational vehicle exploded in downtown Nashville, Tennessee on Christmas morning in what the Nashville Police Department deemed a "deliberate act".

Nashville police officers were initially called to a report of gunfire fired, police said. There was no evidence of gunfire being fired, but "there were announcements" from a motor home that a potential bomb would explode within 15 minutes, police said.

Officials were working to evacuate nearby buildings when the RV exploded around 6:30 a.m., blowing out the windows of nearby buildings.

The explosion knocked an officer to the ground. Another officer suffered temporary hearing loss.
Three people were hospitalized with minor injuries. No significant injuries were reported.
It is unknown if anyone was in the RV when it exploded, authorities said.
According to authorities, several buildings were structurally damaged.

The search for the suspect has "investigative leads to be followed" and "technical work that needs to be done," the FBI said.
"We'll find out what happened here," said the FBI.
The FBI, the lead investigative agency, is asking anyone with information to submit a tip on the FBI website.
Agents from the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Bureau have also responded.

President Donald Trump, Acting Secretary of State for Homeland Security Chad Wolf and Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen have been informed of the incident.
Authorities said they were not aware of any other imminent threat. K-9 dogs are sweeping the city center as a precaution, the police said.
The debris field extends over at least a few blocks. The roads around the exploded vehicle have been closed.
