On the eve of her Netflix special, "Sorry I Love You," Ariana Grande announced her engagement to Dalton Gomez. To share the news, the Posse singer shared a slideshow of pictures - three photos of her and Gomez snuggled together and two showing off her engagement ring: a partly pearly, partly oval diamond style. "Forever and then some," she captioned the post.
According to Olivia Landau, the founder of the jewelry brand The Clear Cut, her ring - placed on a thin platinum band - is a further development of the popular two-stone engagement ring in the Toi et Moi style. (Toi et moi is French for “you and me”.) “It appears to have an elongated oval - about 2.5 carats - paired with a pearl,” says Landau, who also suggested that the diamond be DEF-colored Gemologist Institute of America color scale means the ring is of the highest and rarest quality. Because of this, Landau estimates the ring would have cost between $ 30,000 and $ 50,000.
The style is not only breathtaking and unique, the two-stone rings from Toi et Moi are also among the most sought-after engagement ring styles of 2021. "The two stones in these rings symbolize that two souls become one," said Shelley Brown, senior fashion and beauty editor for The Knot, opposite Refinery29 earlier this month. The style is also popular with celebrities, including model Emily Ratajkowski, whose engagement ring features a square diamond and a tear-drop diamond, and singer Solange Knowles, who wears an Art Deco ring with a square and emerald-cut diamond.
Although Toi et Moi rings are just as popular as pearls right now, many people still need to pair a pearl with a diamond in this style. (Traditionally these rings combine two of the same gemstones, just in different cuts.) Of course, Grande is not the traditional type.
Adding the pearl on your ring can also be sentimental. In 2014, the singer's grandmother gave her a pearl ring made from a gemstone taken from her grandfather's tie pin. "She says he told her in a dream that it would protect me," Grande then tweeted next to a picture of the ring, which had a large, spherical pearl on a gold ribbon. It's clear that pearls hold a special place in Grande's heart, which makes her engagement ring all the more perfect.
According to People, the star and the real estate agent have been dating since January. Grande was previously engaged to comedian Pete Davidson. For the proposal for 2018, Davidson sought out jewelry designer Gred Yuna to create the ring - a pear-shaped diamond on a pavé ribbon.
