Asian American Father Walking With 1-Year-Old Son in Stroller Repeatedly Punched in SF

An Asian-American father was waiting to cross the street with his 1-year-old when a man approached and hit him from behind in San Francisco on Friday.

What Happened: Bruce, 36, was outside of Gus' Community Market at the intersection of 4th and Channel around 2pm. in Mission Bay when he was hit from behind and thrown to the ground.
In a surveillance video, the male suspect identified as Sidney Hammond is seen beating Bruce more than a dozen times while the stroller carrying his child rolls away.
Hammond continued to try to beat Bruce when police officers patrolling the area arrested him.
Bruce told ABC7's Dion Lim his "feeling of security has been shaken".
Authorities reported that the child was unharmed and that Bruce was being treated for "non-life threatening injuries."

Further details: Hammond is charged with "assault, wrongful detention and endangerment of children," reported CBS SF.
The 26-year-old was arrested in the same location a month earlier for a separate attack and theft after allegedly stealing from Gus' community market, shoving a man onto the MUNI train tracks and injuring someone's knee, Lim said on Twitter.
Authorities said the attack was "random and likely not motivated by anti-Asian racism," Newsweek reported.
The racially motivated incident came to Bruce's mind, particularly with the emergence of anti-Asian violence last year and the randomness of his attack, he told Lim.
