Australia’s new rules for Facebook and Google are already backfiring
One way is through Facebook. Yesterday, almost none of this was possible globally for the Australian content of the conversation as Facebook decided to ban all news (including bogus news) from Australian sources to avoid putting it in front of the Australian Parliament for legal negotiation. The Government's New Media Negotiating Code was in response to a request from the Australian Competition and Consumers Commission for digital platforms that it was difficult for content providers, including but not limited to news organizations, to deal with platforms whose rules were constantly changing.
