Bachelorette 's Brendan Morais Reveals Why He Decided to End His Romance With Tayshia Adams
Brendan Morais speaks out after saying goodbye to Tayshia Adams on The Bachelorette.
On Monday, December 21, Bachelor Nation watched the commercial roofer who recently divorced Tayshia told Tayshia he was just not ready to get engaged. After the tearful departure, Tayshia admitted during a confessional that she thought she was going to end up with Brendan, which made his exit particularly heartbreaking.
After Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin saw the first part of the Bachelorette finals, they spoke to Brendan about his decision to leave the show despite making it so far on the trip.
"For me, what I wanted to do from day one was just to be myself and be real and live every moment and be as true as possible," he shared on the December 22nd podcast episode. "And when I went into this crazy experience and journey, I didn't know what to expect and I didn't know if that would work for me."

“To find Tayshia as amazing and beautiful as she was and that connection was true and really there,” he continued, “I would take it day in and day out and as I moved further into the process I tried to be so faithful be myself and not do anything for any other reason ... any other external factors. "
Brendan went on to say that he didn't want to do anything that could "hurt" Tayshia in the long run.

"I think the biggest benefit for me was ... I know I want a family, I know I want a wife and kids, but knowing and being completely ready was something I discovered - there was there is a little loophole, "he explained to the co-hosts. "There was a small loophole that I had to close at some point, and I have to find out for myself."
Brendan added that leaving was not an easy decision to make. "I had this beautiful, amazing woman right in front of me and for some reason I still wrestle with today, I sabotaged the moment myself," he said. "I've protected myself in a way, you know, I've protected myself from injury and as cheesy as it is, stupid as it sounds, I've been married before and I feel like it would be a disservice to Tayshia in an if I got engaged and fell to one knee and wasn't complete, I was 100 percent ready. Brendan also took to Instagram on December 22nd to reflect on his bachelorette trip. "First and foremost, grateful for the opportunity to meet the beautiful Tayshia. It is something I will cherish for the rest of my life to have shared unforgettable moments through this once-in-a-lifetime experience," he wrote. "Unfortunately, we didn't have a fairytale ending. I'm leaving this trip on my way to becoming a better man."
"I'm certainly not perfect, but I hope to learn and grow from every decision and experience I'm separated from," he continued. "Tayshia is a special woman who deserves all that life has to offer and I am so grateful to have been a part of her journey. I wish her all the best and many blessings in life."
Part two of Tayshia's Bachelorette Finals will air Tuesday on ABC.
