Lionel Messi's Man of the Match performance failed to reach his 700th career goal in a goalless draw against Julen Lopetegui's third place
Messi, who scored 629 goals for Barcelona and 70 for Argentina, had three shots on goal, a key pass and five dribbles, but was unable to beat Tomas Vacl.
Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen scored three saves, including an important late stop.
The draw means that Barca has 65 points. The blue granas could win and not win the league if Real Madrid, currently with 62 points, also wins. The first tie-breaker in the league is head to head, and Real took four out of six points from Barca.
