There's no denying that the United States is full of sports fanatics, but how many are there? According to a new study by Myprotein, a leading sports nutrition brand in Europe, roughly 154 million Americans (read: nearly half the total population in the country) watch live sports every month - not to mention those who are also US 56 billion - Spend dollars on tickets annually. From basketball to soccer and hockey to baseball there is almost always a game to watch, but the days when baseball was America's favorite pastime are over. Today one sport is more popular than the other: football, 31 states prefer it over each other.
Based on the sales of Vivid Seats tickets in each state, Myprotein found that residents of 19 states would rather spend their money on an NFL game than any other sports game, and 12 states are die-hard NCAA fans, a.k.a. College football. Florida, New Mexico, and Washington are just a few of the states that can't stay away from an NFL game, while Nebraska, Alabama, and Oklahoma are big college soccer fans - given that they're all home to the top rankings , soccer schools make sense.

Ten states have retained America's original fascination with baseball over the past few decades, choosing to attend a baseball game before a soccer, hockey, or basketball game. If you think about it, it makes sense that states like New York, home of the legacy team Yankees, and California, which has five major league baseball teams, only ever play baseball.
Basketball and hockey follow the popularity of baseball, coupled with five different states that prefer these sports to others. California, Colorado, Oregon, and Utah are big NBA fans, while Kentucky also loves the sport but prefers college basketball. America's greatest hockey fans, on the other hand, can be found in Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
