‘Be how you always are.’ Whoopi, McCain again spar on ‘The View’ as fans weigh in
"The View" got off to a rocky start on Thursday when co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain had tough words for each other.
The women, flanked by co-hosts Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin, discussed President Joe Biden's tense exchange with CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins during a press conference Wednesday when the hosts' conversation took a turn.
McCain described Biden's behavior as "unworthy" of an incumbent president. Goldberg agreed, but praised Biden for apologizing to Collins because "what I [former President Donald] Trump never saw is apologizing".
As she continued making her point, McCain interjected to say that she "didn't care" whether Biden apologized or not.
Goldberg, long-time host of the daytime talk show, was reluctant to hear the comment and the interruption: "I don't care that you don't care."
"I don't care that you don't care! McCain protested.
"Good Meghan, then you can be who you always are," Goldberg said before putting the show on the commercial.
It didn't take long for the show's viewers to be heard on social media.
“Can you imagine talking to Whoopi Goldberg like that ?!” wrote a fan on Twitter.
“They are clearly on top of each other,” wrote another. “Whoopi was right. She was trying to make a point and she kept interrupting #TheView.
Others speculated that the spit could mark "Meghan's last day on #TheView".
When the show returned from the commercial, both women apologized before moving on to the next hot topic.
