Bears 33, Vikings 27: David Montgomery's career day keeps playoff hopes alive
Whose arrows go up and down after the Bears 33:27 win on NBC Sports Chicago
Climbing back to .500 has never been so stressful! We'll talk about the Bears inability to close games later - enjoy a nice 33:27 win over a division rival for now. Playoffs ?! Here the arrows show:
Up Arrow - Darnell Mooney Mooney's not just a guy, he's a guy. (And one who now has the record for most receptions from a bear novice.) The final stat (4 catches 49 yards 1 TD) may not blow anyone, let alone his role in the bear offensive its meaning - has never been so clear. His touchdown catch in the first quarter was impressive, but his 12 yard catch a quarter later was possibly the best game of the game. It's safe to say he's already the Bears' most explosive player?
Up Arrow - Mitch Trubisky If only the bears had given Trubisky more input at any point in the past four years! (I'm kidding) (No, I'm not) People had been waiting for the new and improved, efficient bootleg machine to fare against a respectable defense, and Trubisky did not disappoint. Not only did he finish 15/21 with 202 yards and a touchdown, but he pulled the Bears back to .500, essentially ending Minnesota's season. He did a little of everything on Sunday: he found court with his legs, made smart decisions and (for the most part) protected football. Things are going so well for Trubisky right now that Twitter spent most of the second half talking about how the bears would bring him back next year.
Down Arrow - Kindle Vildor His Q4 pass interference call was tricky, but it was a PI call nonetheless - and one that kept the Vikings on the field in a game by two points and 10 minutes left. He was a pretty significant part of the runaway coverage that led to the Vikings' first touchdown. It's as tough as a debut to face Minnesota's reception group, but Vildor struggled a lot.
Up Arrow - Kairo Santos He has scored 22 goals in a row and is getting the love he deserves right * now *. 21! Has a bear kicker ever scored 22 field goals in one season ?! (Stop yelling at me, I know.) Take a little time to take stock of all the other things you've been worried about this year, and how none of it has to do with foosball. What a world we live in.
Up Arrow - David Montgomery He has arrived! The Montgomera is here! Montgomery's 146-yard day marked the third time in four games that he had hit over 100. It was also a career high. Imagine if the bears tried to give him the ball before week 10! The best thing about David Montgomery touchdown runs is how he gets into the end zone every time with 5 guys holding on for their dear life.
Down Arrow - Perform Defense Look, Dalvin Cook is a stallion. He finished the first half at 79 yards on the ground - the most RBs against Chicago that year - and finished the game at 132. He averaged nearly * six * yards per carry. There isn't much more to say. it was ugly. The bears will surely appreciate having Eddie Goldman back next year.
