Organizations and groups have come together to raise awareness of the importance of the upcoming midterm elections. This is all the more important as Republican-led states have enacted many anti-election amendments to stem this dynamic for future elections.
As NBC News notes, Ben and Jerry's is rebranding its ice cream brand Change Is Brewing, which originally focused on racial justice reform. Now the causes are protecting the right to vote and encouraging voter turnout among young black people. The ice cream will be distributed to historically black colleges and universities, major cities and rural communities in the southern states as part of the Black Voters Matter Fund's "We Won't Black Down" tour. The ice mixes cold brew coffee, marshmallows and fudge brownie bits. It should be on shelves in the next few weeks.

Whether you're excited, weary, or somewhere in between, you probably know we're approaching what is sure to be a historic midterm election. With more reasons than ever to make your voice heard, and with some states trying to make it difficult, we felt we had to do something big to help. That's why we're rebranding our fan-favorite limited edition, Change is Brewing, to celebrate the power of black voters and encourage voter turnout.

This isn't the first time Ben and Jerry's have been working on something involving voting rights. In 2016, Ben & Jerry partnered with Rev. William Barber II to launch its Empower Mint flavor aimed at raising awareness of North Carolina's Voter ID Act. US Activism Manager for the company Maroni Minter spoke about the importance of this initiative.
From Vermont Biz:
"It is precisely because of the power of the black voice that a number of states -- all controlled by Republicans -- are trying so hard to suppress it," said Maroni Minter, US activism manager at Ben & Jerry's.
"That's why today we're also excited to partner with Black Voters Matter to embark on a seven-week tour of Georgia to engage voters across the state and connect them with the information and tools they need to ensure their vote is counted and." her power is felt. And yes, there will be free ice cream.”
