Ben Simmons reacts to story that he left group chat with Nets teammates

The Brooklyn Nets have been in the headlines throughout the offseason as they deal with the Kevin Durant trade request as well as the usual Kyrie Irving drama.
The latest story with the Nets doesn't involve the superstar duo, but Ben Simmons, who has yet to play for Brooklyn after being acquired by the Philadelphia 76ers on deadline day.
According to a wild tale from NBA insider Ric Bucher, Simmons left the Nets team's group chat after they asked him if he would play the Boston Celtics in Game 4 after they lost Game 3 at home. Struggling with a back injury, the three-time All-Star hoped to return in the playoffs, but he couldn't.

Simmons then responded on Twitter when he criticized Bucher's story.
Simmons also retweeted a video from The Pat McAfee Show defending him. The Athletic and The Stadium's Shams Charania said the story was fake and never happened. He also provided an update on Simmons' recovery as he hopes to play in the 2022-23 season after missing the entire precious season.
It remains to be seen if Simmons will make an appearance for the Nets, but all signs point to him making his Brooklyn debut sometime in the upcoming season.
