Biden approval slips again, Congress fares even worse: Poll

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Joe Biden's approval numbers remain stuck in his top 30s during his first year in office.
Respondents gave Biden a 37% negative rating for job approval, with 52% disapproving and 12% giving no opinion. That's one percentage point less than his approval rating of 38% to 53% on October 6th.
In addition, 38% said they had an overall “positive opinion” of Biden, significantly less than in May when he was fresh in office, with 49% giving him a positive rating.

Biden's numbers may go down like a ship, but members of Congress are doing worse.
According to the Quinnipiac poll, respondents gave Congress Democrats a 30% negative vote to a 60% negative vote. For Republicans in Congress, it was 23% to 65%.
A look at what respondents picked as their top topics can shed some light on why the admission numbers are where they are. Quinnipiac named the economy the most pressing problem the country is facing today and was chosen by 19% of respondents. It was followed by COVID-19 (16%) and immigration (14%).

There was a sharp partisan opposition as to which issues are the most important. Republicans chose immigration (28%), the economy (24%) and public debt (10%). Democrats opted for COVID-19 (28%), healthcare (14%) and climate change (13%) with no overlap between the two parties.
"What worries Republicans most isn't high on the list of Democratic concerns and vice versa," Quinnipiac analyst Tim Malloy said in a statement on the results. "But for the country as a whole, the economic climate is highlighting the pandemic and the problems at the border as the matter of greatest concern."
