Biden faces GOP backlash after reports of Afghanistan decision

GOP lawmakers aren't thrilled that President Biden will reportedly announce that there will be a full withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021.
Senate Minority Chairman Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Called it a "grave mistake" while Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) Said it was a "ruthless and dangerous decision" and argued that "not an eternal one War wants ". I've said time and time again that any withdrawal must be condition based. "(A Biden official said Tuesday the withdrawal was unconditional.)
A couple of other Republican senators also fired their shots. For one thing, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) Did not hold back, describing a complete withdrawal as "dumber than dirt". He took the view that at least a "remaining fight against terrorism" should remain in place as an "insurance policy against the rise of radical Islam in Afghanistan". Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) questioned the target date, which marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. "I think a haphazard retreat just because you're celebrating an anniversary isn't the right decision," she said, according to Fox News.
Not everyone was that tough. Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) left the door open and said, "If we are ready to go, I will support," but added, "If we are not ready to go, I will." that is very clear. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), on the other hand, simply said he was glad the troops were likely to be 'coming home'.
Then there's Josh Hawley, who isn't a huge fan of Biden's new strategy either, except on the basis that it's too late. He urged the White House to adhere to the May 1 deadline set in an agreement between the Trump administration and the Taliban, despite admitting that it was "better late than never".
