Biden to host Obama for White House portrait reveal after Trump’s refusal: report
The decades-long tradition could take place in autumn
It has been announced that President Joe Biden will host the official White House portraits of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
According to NBC News, the decade-long tradition could take place later this year after Donald Trump skipped the Obamas ceremony.
"You're practically done," said a person familiar with the situation about the portraits of Obama. The event could take place in the fall, when COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed. The East Room event typically has a few hundred guests.

"It would be a shame to do it and only have six or seven people there," a source told NBC News.
"As COVID restrictions continue to be lifted and we slowly reopen the White House to social activity, we will continue to address these types of issues," a White House official said.
When President Obama was in office, he hosted a ceremony to unveil the portraits of former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush. Bush did the same for President Bill Clinton and former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Allegedly, the Trump administration moved the portraits of Bush and Clinton from their usual location on the State Floor near the Grand Foyer to a less visible location. Biden has decided to move them back to their appropriate location.
Reportedly, due to the tension between the one-year-old president and Obama, Trump has chosen not to reveal his predecessor's portrait.

Currently, Trump is going through the process of completing his portrait, but most likely will not participate in every part of the tradition. Trump had previously accused Biden of not having won the 2020 presidential election fairly.
Former President and his wife Melania have started discussing their portraits with the White House Historical Association, which is responsible for awarding the portraits. The process can take up to four years.
In 2018, the National Portrait Gallery unveiled images of the Obamas. The paintings are the only collection of presidential portraits outside the White House created by black artists. Artist Amy Sherald completed the ex-first lady's painting, while artist Kehinde Wiley completed Mr. Obama's painting.
TheGrio reports that digital versions of the Obamas' official portraits were projected onto Chicago's Merchandise Mart this month. They continue every night through September as part of a national tour.
The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC organized a five-city tour beginning June 18 at the Art Institute in Chicago, where the portraits will be exhibited for about two months through August 15 before moving to others Break open cities, PEOPLE reports.

According to the report, the digital versions will illuminate the Merchandise Mart building until September 16 at 9 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., with musical accompaniment to the works.
"It's almost a myth that the president and first lady had their first date here," said James Rondeau, director of the Art Institute. “President Obama, the first black president. Michelle Obama, the first black first lady. Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, the first black artists selected to represent the National Portrait Gallery's official portraits. "
