The very first Big Brother winner appeared to be the perfect contender for the Ultimate Big Brother all-star series, which brought together some of the series' most memorable roommates from all years for a final series on Channel 4 in 2010.
But Craig Phillips, who won the first series of the reality giant in 2000, was missing from the Ultimate Big Brother house, which featured Big Brother 2 winner Brian Dowling, Big Brother 7-Nikki Grahame and Celebrity Big Brother 4 winner Chantelle Houghton said.
In an exclusive chat with Digital Spy, Craig has now explained why, 10 years after his victory, he decided not to enter the house even though the producers were interested in him doing it.

"It is a great honor for me to be part of the first, you know? And the winner of the first," he said. "When they had the end of Big Brother on Channel 4, they did the Ultimate Big Brother show. They asked me if I wanted to continue.
"They called me and we talked about it. First I said, 'Yeah, that sounds great. It would be fun.' "We're going to use some of the winners, some of the notorious and blah blah." I hung up the phone and went around for about half an hour and thought, "Oh, do I really want to be there?"
"And then I just thought about it and thought, 'I'm the only first Big Brother winner. It can't be replaced. But if I go back home, I can become another Big Brother loser. There are hundreds of them.'"
Craig added that he was "very busy" at the time and said he decided to call the producers back and reject their offer.

"And I was also a little worried about what happened to Jade Goody and things like that," he added. "I said, 'To be honest, it's not for me. I don't want to get involved in battles of any kind or be badly processed. I'll just bow and not do it.' So yes, that was it. We didn't make the ultimate big brother. "
However, Craig entered the house for a day to participate in a construction job with the roommates, and revealed that it was "enough for me" to be so "in and out".
This is not to say that he wasn't excited to step back when he told Digital Spy that he was "definitely looking forward to his day there."
"Because you've been there and felt the whole experience of everything - the mixed feelings, boredom and challenge and things like that - if you only go in there for a limited time and 'X." Number of hours, nothing can really go wrong going to be dramatic, "he said.

"So you're just excited and think, 'That's a buzz. It's a real privilege to go in and out, you know?' So yes, I can remember being excited a few times when I went back inside. "
Craig also recently spoke to Digital Spy about reuniting with his Series 1 roommate, 'Nasty' Nick Bateman, for dinner in Sydney, where Nick now lives, and revealed that there are no hard feelings when it comes to what's in happened to this house.
"Of course we laugh about it. We look back and talk," he said. "And what he did - writing names down - is so petty compared to what it is now when people fight against each other."
