The Blackhawks have swapped Brandon Saad and defenseman Dennis Gilbert to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for pending defender Nikita Zadorov and defender Anton Lindholm.
The Blackhawks keep Saad's $ 1 million contract and announce that Zadorov has signed his qualifying offer of $ 3.2 million for the 2020-21 season.
Saad, 27, had a year left on his contract with a $ 6 million cap hit. He recorded 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points in 58 games last season for the Blackhawks.
The 25-year-old Zadorov had 13 points (four goals, nine assists) and an average of 17:46 ice times in 64 games for the Avalanche last season. He also had five points (three goals, two assists) in 15 postseason competitions.
Gilbert (23) and Lindholm (25) each spent much of their last season in the American Hockey League. Lindholm's two-way deal has a cap hit of $ 742,500 and runs through the 2020-21 campaign.
