Actress Poppy Montgomery is being sued along with her husband by a former housekeeper who claims she is owed money for working at the couple's home.
According to new legal documents obtained by The Blast, a housekeeper named Miriam Trejo claims she worked for the famous couple at their home outside of Los Angeles from 2014 to 2022. In the filing, she says her main responsibilities include "cleaning, cooking and looking after (her) children, among other things."

At the time, the housekeeper claimed she was making $25 an hour, but Poppy and husband Shawn Sanford "exercised pervasive control over their wages and working conditions."

Trejo says she worked an average of eight hours a day, five days a week, during her eight years. But she was reportedly "never allowed uninterrupted 30-minute meal breaks throughout her tenure." She added, "She couldn't take her rest breaks because she was constantly needed to perform her duties" and was "prevented from taking compliant meal and rest times."
In California, labor laws require employers to provide each worker with "an uninterrupted meal time of not less than 30 consecutive minutes for each work time in excess of five hours," the lawsuit states. This includes an additional 10 minute break for any time exceeding four hours.
In the end, the housekeeper says she didn't get any breaks for about 193 workweeks that she was with the family. So she asks a judge to order the famous couple to pay the entire amount from 2014. The total amount is "$48,250," according to the lawsuit.

It should be noted that the lawsuit does not mention why or how the person was "fired" from working for the family.
Interestingly, Poppy Montgomery has been making headlines for the past few weeks after fans debated her 2001 portrayal of Marilyn Monroe. As you know, Netflix is releasing a highly anticipated new adaptation of Blonde starring Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe. Of course, it's not the first time the tragic tale has been brought to the big screen - Poppy's version ran in 2001 and earned her the cover of TV Guide Magazine.
And if you're a huge Disney fan — Poppy and her husband announced in 2020 that they were secretly married with their kids and Minnie and Mickey Mouse at Disneyland. The 'Unforgettable' actress opened up about the magical ceremony, saying: "My mum was horrified. She was like, 'How do you turn Disneyland into Vegas? You don't run to Disneyland and get married!'"

"They are very small. Really small. And I thought there were kids in there or little people I didn't know" about the famous characters. Adding, "And my kids were so impressed with Mickey and Minnie that they didn't really pay attention to the wedding. And then my stepdaughter said, 'Why is Minnie better dressed than you?' Because I was wearing jeans and Minnie was in some kind of wedding dress."
The case is not yet closed.
