Britney Spears assured fans that she is fine amid the #FreeBritney movement and a public reckoning of celebrity exploitation.
"Am I fine? Yes, I'm totally fine," said the 39-year-old pop star in an Instagram video in which she asked fan questions on various topics. "I'm very happy. I have a nice home, nice children. I'm taking a break right now because I am enjoying myself." Spears has two sons, Sean Preston, 15, and Jayden James, 14, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
It's the second time Spears has alluded to her sanity after the New York Times Presents' February documentary Framing Britney Spears. With her burgeoning career in mind, the show drew attention to how the media treated Spears in the spotlight during her tumultuous time, including her 2007 collapse that resulted in what is now a conservatory run by her father, Jamie Spears.
Last month, the pop star revealed in an Instagram post that even though she hadn't seen the lively Doc, she was "embarrassed by the light they added to me" ... I cried for two weeks and now ... me still cry sometimes !!!! "
Spears added, "It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability because I've always been judged like this ... offended ... and embarrassed by the media ... and I still am to this day !! While the world goes on and life goes on, we still remain as fragile and sensitive as humans !!! "
Meanwhile, the documentary inspired celebrities to apologize to Spears for public abuse. Justin Timberlake (who dated Spears from 1999 to 2002) regretted misogynistic comments about their sex life after their breakup. And this week, comedian Sarah Silverman reiterated her regret for toasting Spears and Paris Hilton on two different MTV Awards shows in 2007.
