Britney Spears Explains The Reason Behind Her Topless Instagram Posting Spree
Let's just say Britney Spears these days is about freedom, especially when it comes to her body.
If you've followed the music superstar on Instagram lately, you've probably noticed the deluge of photos of a topless Spears - five posts in the past two weeks - having fun in the sun in jeans and not much else.
Given the ongoing legal battle over the Conservatory, which has controlled almost every aspect of Spear's life since 2008, some fans have questioned whether the revealing photos were shared without their consent.
But the singer broke the record with another clothing optional post on Monday, stating that after years of feeling "too confident about my body", she's all about expressing herself on her own terms.
"Before I show you more pictures of my body ... I want you to understand my thoughts on exposing my skin," Spears wrote in the caption next to a carousel of photos from a topless shoot. "In my opinion, when a woman is hot and she wants to take a shift ... it's FUCK, I FEEL BETTER ... that's why you think you look better !!!"
"I've had a billion shows I've done this on and to my horror uhhh ... sometimes I didn't look that great ... TOO MANY TIMES and it's bloody embarrassing, but it felt great to me," she continued . "I mean, I don't want anyone to see the big dimple in my ass, but I feel like the gigs made me too confident about my body and that's not attractive."
Spears, wearing only white bikini bottoms and red knee high shoes in the photos, went on to explain why she made the decision to "expose my body NOW," given the public scrutiny of her personal life over the past few months.
"That's because I was born naked into this world and I honestly feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders and that is how I see myself," she wrote. "I wanted to see myself more easily ... naked ... the way I was born."
Since last fall, Spears has been struggling to regain control of her finances and freedom from her father, Jamie Spears. She testified in public court in June that she was being exploited under the dehumanizing restrictions of the conservatoires, which she likened to sex trafficking. At the time, the singer described the current arrangement as "abusive" and added: "I haven't done anything in the world to deserve this treatment."
Since then, she has hired her own attorney on the case for the first time in 13 years as her legal team moved to remove her father, who said last week that he ultimately "intended" to move from his role as her curator without one Word to give specific time frame.
In her Monday post, Spears said she was tired of being restricted by "pain ... injuries ... tears ... and heavy loads" and that she was adopting a new mindset.
"I'm a woman ... a beautiful ... sensitive woman who needs to look at me in my purest form," she wrote. "I won't take topless pictures for the rest of my life because that would be boring, but it will definitely helps when you need to be educated. "
Spears finished her caption by linking her self-expression to the #FreeBritney movement, writing, "The movement has a much deeper meaning than you can ever imagine."
The next trial in the Spears case is scheduled for September 29th as she proceeds with increasingly assertive steps to break away from her father and dissolve the conservatory.
