Bryson DeChambeau keeps pushing past 200 mph ball speed; Rickie Fowler jokes he ‘might have sniffed 174’
The speed competition, good or bad, will continue to make headlines as 2020 comes to an end.
Golfweek's Adam Woodard recently posted a list of Bryson DeChambeau's biggest rides of the year, including his staggering 428-yard bomb-bogey during the Connecticut Travelers Championship.
Although there is currently a break in the schedule - tournament play starts again in January - DeChambeau continues to keep things interesting during the holidays.
Earlier this week, DeChambeau posted a clip on his Instagram page about exceeding ball speeds of 200 mph. This is nothing new as he was paced at 211 mph on a FlightScope X3 home screen this October in a video showing he carried his driver over 400 meters.
It's almost as fun to see the comments after one of DeChambeau's posts. In the above issue, Rickie Fowler interfered:
"I think I might have sniffed 176 today?"
Of course, DeChambeau's obsession with tinkering has resulted in some pretty incredible snapshots over the past year.
Another came on Tuesday when Bryson held an hour-long IG session that included a chat with buddy and celebrity actor Chris Pratt. During the discussion, DeChambeau and Kyle Berkshire, a long-drive star, made major cuts.
With the 48-inch rider he has not yet unleashed on the tour, DeChambeau said he has a club head speed of 146.9 mph. Berkshire was up to 150.
