Bryson DeChambeau turns attention to equipment prep for Masters

With a brief trip to Las Vegas behind him, Bryson DeChambeau turns his attention to the Masters.
DeChambeau made his only start between winning the US Open and teeing off at Augusta National the next month, finishing with a 5-under-66 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. While a 71 in the third round at TPC Summerlin compromised the chances of a second win in three years, DeChambeau ended the week in a draw in eighth with 18 under.
Though he has no plans to play competitively before the Masters, DeChambeau reiterated that he still has a lot to do to prepare both his swing and clubs before the final major of the year.

"I've got some gear left for the next two months so I'm mostly taking off," DeChambeau said. "I think the benefits that I normally have could be greatly improved with the equipment. We don't have them yet, but we're working hard behind the scenes on it."
DeChambeau made an early run in the leaderboard with five birdies over his first 10 holes and added an eagle on the 15th par-4 before dropping a shot on the final hole. He's not planning on touching a club next week, but instead focuses on exercising and putting on weight as he plans to hit "around 245 (pounds)" for the first time. Shortly thereafter, however, the focus shifts back to his Trackman numbers.
Dechambeau told reporters earlier this week that he will be tinkering with a 48-inch driver at the Masters, the maximum length allowed by golf rules, and he added on Sunday that he expects to do "around 2,000" trips in the next Four weeks of honing his gear, adding even more swing speed, and making decisions about what to bring down Magnolia Lane.
"I want to try to find clear advantages that will allow me to get better and better every time I play," said DeChambeau. "Sure, it helped. I think there has been a big change this year and I'm not going to stop."
