Bucks lose 2022 second-round pick for violating NBA rules in Bogdan Bogdanovic fiasco

The Milwaukee Bucks will be docked in the 2022 NBA draft for communication with shooter Bogdan Bogdanovic before the free agency opens, the NBA announced on Monday.
The NBA opened an investigation in November into a sign and trade deal the Bucks had offered to the former Sacramento Kings star.
"The investigation found that there was indeed early discussion that was behavior that was detrimental to the NBA," the league said in a statement.
"The penalty took into account Bucks' collaboration with the investigation, the lack of evidence of an improper early settlement on the terms of the contract between Bucks and Bogdanovic, and the fact that the Bogdanovic team ultimately failed to sign."
The reported deal never went through as Bogdanovic reportedly never approved it. The following week he signed with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Kings had signed a sign-and-trade agreement to send the restricted free agent Bogdanovic, 28, to the Bucks on November 16. The Free Agency period began on November 20th and teams are only allowed to communicate with players or their agents after that. The NBA investigated whether the sides had spoken previously while Bogdanovic was still a member of the Kings organization.
The Bucks reportedly had Donte Divincenzo, Ersan Ilyasova, and D.J. Wilson to Sacramento. It was part of Bucks' effort to improve the team around two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, making him happy in front of his own free agency. Antetokounmpo signed a Supermax deal with the Bucks last week.
Two days after the reported deal for Bogdanovic, he started falling apart, reportedly due to the fact that the player did not agree to the deal. Instead, he tested the freelance agency market and ended up in Atlanta on a four-year contract for $ 72 million.
Bogdanovic averaged 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in the 2019-20 season, shooting 37.2 percent from the 3-point line.
