California restaurant vows to serve only unvaccinated diners
An Italian restaurant in Huntington Beach, California that has been defying masking requirements since last year now vows to only serve those who haven't received a coronavirus vaccination.
Basilico's Pasta E Vino has put a sign on the front door that reads "NOTE Proof of non-vaccination required". It is unclear how long the sign has been in operation or what would be "evidence" of not receiving doses of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson vaccines, even though the restaurant was against "HATERS" and " LITTLE DICTATORS "railed after owners said they were the subject of threats after the Los Angeles Times reported on the development.
"'LOS ANGELES TIMES' PRINT AN ARTICLE ABOUT US, AND THE HATERS COME AGAIN AND WITH THEM THE HARASSING NON-STOP CALLS, THREATS AND HUNDREDS OF REVIEWS FROM ONE STAR 'WEAR IT ALL AS A BADGE OF HONOR!" wrote the restaurant in a damning Facebook post.

WE FEEL BLESSED TO COME TO FIGHT AGAINST YOU ALL IN DEFENSE OF AMERICAN FREEDOM AND FREEDOM, SO BRING IT UP! " added the local.

In May 2020, Basilico launched an anti-mask campaign and a month later issued a statement that customers who want to dine in the restaurant must "remove" their face coverings while sitting.
“So if you want to go into the restaurant to eat and wear a mask, you have to take it off while you sit down. If you stand around inside waiting for a table or waiting inside to pick up food for yourself or as a third party delivery driver and you are wearing a mask, you will be asked to wait outside, "the owners wrote at the time.

The state became aware of this in October 2020 and the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control accused Basilico of being a "messy place". The restaurant's liquor license is still active for the owners despite pending litigation.
The threat came days after the area restaurant commissioned a sign saying "Leave the Mask, Take the Cannoli", a tribute to the classic mob movie The Godfather.
