Cat saved from garbage plant in Russia
If a worker at a Russian garbage sorting facility had miraculously saved a cat from certain death, he would never have thought that the animal would nap in a government official's chair and present a title of honor.
The cat's unlikely rescue, broadcast on television and social media, has made her a local celebrity and has led her to be adopted and unofficially named Deputy Environment Minister by the Ulyanovsk Region Environment Ministry.
Pictures from the ministry showed the cat napping in a swivel chair in Environment Minister Gulnara Rakhmatulina's office and exploring its new surroundings.
The ministry has announced a nationwide competition to choose a name for the cat that is found to be healthy after a veterinary examination.
