Catalytic converter theft has gotten out of hand in so many areas and people are just fed up with it. After all, a new cat can cost you several hundred dollars, which is why these punks steal them with a sawzall. Personally, we think they have to pay for people to suffer because they just want a quick buck, so it made us laugh when we saw some people spring into action and hit a bunch of catalyst thieves with a barrage of paintballs.

In video of the incident, the two would-be thieves are shown crawling under a Ford Excursion. Then you hear the sound of the couple sawing through the exhaust system to harvest the prized cat. An alarm sounds and the pair is scared for a moment, but after it's turned off, they get back to work.
Little did they know the homeowner was reaching out for his paintball gun to teach them a lesson. He opens fire while they're still under the vehicle, pursues them as they run away, and pelts them with a few more bullets.
If you've never been hit by a paintball, they hurt unless you're wearing heavy clothing. We know from experience that the paint-filled bullets can leave a pretty uncomfortable welt when they hit bare skin.
Still, some wonder if that was a good idea. Finally, the catalytic converter thieves could have had a real gun and returned fire, making the situation fatal. There's admittedly potential for that, but we think the result here was pretty hilarious.
According to a local news report, the family who owns the Ford have dealt with seven attempts to steal the catalytic converter. We have no idea what this cat is being sold for on the black market, but it must be a lot. It's sad, but maybe they should invest in one of these lockable cages? What a time we live in.
