Charles Oliveira stuns Michael Chandler in wild TKO finish for lightweight title

Charles Oliveira won the Lightweight Championship on Saturday in one of the wildest and most unlikely turnarounds in a title shot in promotion history at the UFC 262 main event at the Toyota Center in Houston on Saturday.
Oliveira was dropped from a left hook by just under two minutes on the first lap and was beaten by Michael Chandler for most of the rest of the lap. Referee Dan Miragliotta leaned over, paying close attention to Oliveira and appearing to be about to stop her.
Chandler had vowed his pressure would break Oliveira, and when Round 1 ended it seemed only a matter of time before his prediction came true.
But it was a 180 degree turn when Round 2 started. Oliveira caught Chandler with a clean left hook on the chin, seriously injuring the former Bellator lightweight champion. Chandler stumbled back to the cage and tried to find an escape.
Oliveira is one of the great finishers in UFC history, but usually with his submissions. This time, however, he finished it off with his hands. When Chandler was looking for space, Oliveira attacked. He caught Chandler with another devastating left hand that sent him down, and that was it.
The end came after 19 seconds of a wild second round that completed a remarkable insane fight.
"I told you I would turn it off and I turned it off," said Oliveira. "I have proven to everyone that I am the lion of the lions."

The win was his ninth in a row, but none had higher stakes or was wilder. Before Chandler hurt him in the first, Oliveira had Chandler down and in a back bare choke. That's almost a guarantee of a finish, but Chandler found a way out.
Chandler then turned the fight in his favor by attacking and firing punches that rocked Oliveira.
The crowd roared and sang "U-S-A!" when Chandler crossed the finish line. However, the sudden change in luck at the start of the second round guarantees that this will be one of the UFC's most talked about bouts.
"I think we saw one of the toughest kids in the world come back out of trouble," said Chandler. "Charles Oliveira is the real deal."
