China says highly concerned about openness, safety of foreign investment in UK market
BEIJING, October 9 (Reuters). The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday that China was very concerned about the openness and security of foreign investment in the UK market after a UK parliamentary committee accused Huawei of cooperating with the Chinese state.
Some in the UK are undermining mutual trust between the two countries, Chinese ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular meeting.
The British Parliament's Defense Committee said Thursday it had found clear evidence that telecommunications giant Huawei was partnering with the "Chinese Communist Party apparatus" and that Britain may need to remove all Huawei devices earlier than planned.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in July ordered Huawei devices to be removed from the nascent 5G network by the end of 2027. (Reporting by Gabriel Crossley; writing by Ryan Woo; editing by Toby Chopra)
