In Poolman, Pine will play Darren Barrenman, whom Deadline has previously described as "a hapless dreamer and wannabe philosopher" who spends his days tending to the pool at the Tahitian Tiki condominium in sunny Los Angeles and attending city council meetings with his neighbor Host Jack and Diane (DeVito, 77, and Bening, 64)."

The outlet teased future announcements of "funny cameos and supporting actors," and that Pine's character will discover "the biggest heist in L.A. history since Chinatown" as part of the story.
The conflict sees Barrenman "forming uneasy alliances with a beautiful and connected femme fatale while following every lead he can with corrupt city officials, burnt-out Hollywood types, and mysterious benefactors—all in the name of protecting his precious Los Angeles," reports Deadline .
According to the outlet, the film is "Big Lebowski meets L.A. film noir with a healthy splash of La La Land."

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Pine admitted he didn't really have a passion for acting before making it a career.
"I've never had a passion for acting," said the 'Wonder Woman 1984' star. "Acting was something that seemed to appear out of nowhere and then just took over my life."
"It seemed to be destiny and it made a lot of sense," he continued, seemingly referring to the line of actors within his family before also discussing directing.
"I never had a desire to direct really truthfully," Pine added. "The idea for Poolman started as this little pebble in a pond."
