A collection of classic cars was destroyed by flames near Traverse City, Michigan.
Authorities said the fire was responsible for the destruction of about a dozen classic cars at a restoration specialty store near Traverse City, Michigan earlier this week. In the early Sunday hours of the weekend, sensors in the store set off a fire alarm and the fire brigade responded, but not before several cars were irretrievably destroyed.
"It's sad to see this kind of loss," Pat Parker, Grand Traverse Metro's chief fire officer, told the Traverse City Record-Eagle.
The tragedy might have been alleviated, perhaps even dramatic, but unfortunately the firefighters didn't have the tools they needed to do their job, most importantly: water. Grand Traverse Metro Fire Chief Pat Parker said there was no water that firefighters could easily access to fight the fire and possibly save some if not all of the classic cars. To get the flames under control, water had to be brought to the scene.
At least five different communities responded to provide water to help fight the flames, but by the time emergency services got to the scene, many of the vehicles were already total write-offs. It is safe to say that there was no fire extinguishing system inside the building that could have prevented the damage completely. There is no word yet on the cause of the fire, but Motorious has reached out to officials for more information and will be updated as more information becomes available.
