In fact, Amazon has hedged its bets that the film will be a huge hit; He reportedly bought the finished film from Paramount for a whopping $ 125 million. The sequel was written by Kenya Barris, creator of "Black-ish", and screenwriters Barry W. Blaustein and David Sheffield of "Coming to America". Directed by Craig Brewer, whose "Hustle & Flow" received two Oscar nods and won an Audience Award at Sundance in 2005. He most recently directed Murphy in Netflix's Rudy Ray Moore biography "Dolemite Is My Name" (2019).
