Conte rues Inter's 'naive errors' in costly draw
Antonio Conte admitted that Inter's failure to score all three points against Sassuolo was "worrying", but the coach believes his team would have been a worthy winner.
Inter took the lead twice late when a hectic Serie A encounter ended 3-3 in San Siro and the Nerazzurri missed the chance to put pressure on Lazio and Juventus.
Francesco Caputo's early goal put Sassuolo in the lead, but Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Biraghi put Inter in the lead before Roberto Gagliardini missed a golden 3-1 chance.
Sassuolo was lucky when Domenico Berardi scored in the 81st minute before Borja Valero Inter brought Giangiacomo Magnani back into the lead to score a point for the guests. Milan Skriniar's red card was a remarkable end to the clash.
"I think we deserved a lot more considering how much we did while I don't remember Samir Handanovic's parades," a frustrated Conte told reporters.
"It's something we keep repeating in this pattern and we pay a high price. I'm very disappointed, as are the boys.
"If you play this type of game and invest so much, you have a chance to win despite the difficulties in the key area of midfield. You have to take the three points home. We didn't - it is disappointing and worrying.
"There are situations where we have to score goals and we pay for these naive mistakes. We had a chance to end them and we didn't. I don't know what more we can do than keep working.
"I am satisfied with the performance, we have to be more careful with the details. We can grow and improve here.
"We have to try to win all the remaining games regardless of what will happen because I want the team to always aim for the maximum. I don't want to regret it, but we have a few tonight."
Biraghi's goal was his first in Serie A since September 2018, but the full-back was as disappointed as his coach.
"When you play for Inter, you are part of a great team and you have to move on immediately. Traveling to Parma is a chance to get back on track," he told Inter's official website.
"We have to think like a great team. We focus on winning. We've had more chances than our opponents since we got back. Failing to finish games has become a problem."
