A new BuzzFeed News profile of Sen. Cory Booker's busy life offers a glimpse into his relationship with Rosario Dawson, who recently moved into the former presidential candidate's home in Newark, New Jersey.
The 41-year-old actress drove across the country from Los Angeles this summer to live with her 51-year-old politician boyfriend. Due to an ongoing pandemic and election cycle, the two now don't have as much time to themselves as they'd like. So busy, in fact, that many of Dawson's boxes have not yet been unpacked.
"We already know that we won't get to it until after the election," Booker told BuzzFeed on the profile published on Saturday.
"This is the first time in my life that I have really been living with someone - and obviously Rosario and I enjoy that and adapt to it, right?" Booker said.
Still, Booker is largely busy with work: he is up for re-election (though comfortably ahead of Republican challenger Rik Mehta) and attending the Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court candidate Amy Coney Barrett.
Dawson understands his schedule, he told BuzzFeed. She herself is also busy campaigning for various candidates and voting before the November elections.
"I think we both know this is kind of a 'latte-down-the-hatch', a kind of 'get-to-Nov-3'," Booker said.

The two still manage to save time even if it's only 20 minutes at the kitchen table for breakfast or an early dinner after Dawson cooks a meal.
“I really didn't do that as a bachelor where I actually sit at a table and just breathe and eat a meal,” Booker told BuzzFeed. "And just set a table - I can't tell you how seldom do I set the table as a bachelor, you know, as a man who lives alone. It's just very nice to set a table before dinner and have someone with which you can say grace. It's just these little things that I really find incredibly enriching. "
In October last year, Dawson told the Washington Post that the couple had been months apart due to the novel coronavirus but remained in close contact via FaceTime and daily phone calls. The period of time provided the necessary boost to make the leap into contraction.

"I'm just about to move by the way. I'm going to New Jersey. I'm moving to Newark," Dawson said at an event in June. "It's time. We were thinking about moving in anyway, but mostly during all of this it was very intense. "
Although Booker has been historically reticent about questions about his relationship status, the Senator has been more open to Dawson, who publicly supported his offer for president. The two were first connected in January 2019.
"Look, the two of us, you know, we've had relationships," Booker previously told the Post, "but I'm not sure I've ever indulged in a relationship as much as I did with her and." allowed me to be so vulnerable. "
