New York-based law firm Rosen filed a class action lawsuit against Cyberpunk 2077 publisher CD Projekt on Thursday for alleged violations of federal securities law, Polygon reports.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of investors who purchased securities such as stocks between January 16 and December 17, 2020, accuses CD Projekt of making "false and / or misleading statements" about Cyberpunk 2077 and of failing to disclose it That the game was "virtually unplayable" on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 due to its numerous bugs.
The Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has been full of glitches and countless gameplay problems with the current generation of consoles since its release two weeks ago. She apologized for the game's shortcomings and promised to provide updates and patches in the coming weeks.
"Second, we'll fix bugs and crashes and improve the overall experience," the statement said. "The first round of updates has just been released and the next is coming in the next 7 days. Expect more as we will update regularly when new improvements are available."
The statement suggested that players who are not satisfied with their experience with Cyberpunk 2077 should receive a refund. Sony initially stopped people from getting their money back, telling them to wait for the updates to clear as they would not honor a refund request.
A few days later, Sony changed their minds and announced that the company would offer a full refund to anyone who bought Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store, while also removing the game from their library.
