‘Dancing With The Stars’ Reports Multiple Cases Of Covid After Premiere

While the season 31 premiere of Dancing with the Stars went smoothly, the ongoing pandemic still managed to take some of the shine off the mirror ball: at least four cases of Covid were reported after the show's Sept. 19 premiere on Disney+.
A DWTS spokesperson told Deadline that all four people in the crew who tested positive work in "completely different departments that don't have face-to-face contact with each other based on our pod system."

The show employs more than 300 production staff.
"Contact tracing was carried out immediately," the spokesman continued. “All close contacts have been notified and put on an increased test rhythm. No close contact of the four positive production workers has since tested positive.”

The spokesman went on to say that "the entire set has been sanitized and as an extra precaution we have asked the majority of staff to work from home".
Deadline heard more than a dozen people had tested positive after the premiere, but the announcer said the number was wrong. The show has been approved by the Department of Health to continue production "based on our strict safety protocols," the spokesperson added.
On Monday, 16 couples performed for the judging panel in front of a live studio audience. Jason Lewis (Sex and the City) and Peta Murgatroyd were sent home after scoring one of the lowest scores of the night - 18 out of a possible 40.
DWTS returns to Disney+ on Monday night. The couples dance to the music of Elvis Presley.
